The respirator risk assessment is performed to identify work areas, processes, or tasks that require respiratory protection. It is a “reasonable estimate” of employee exposures anticipated to occur. This is an annual requirement that must be submitted to the RPP.
An individual or work group hazard assessment will be completed by the Respiratory Protection Program Administrator. A hazard evaluation includes information on:
Work activity (e.g., laboratory techniques)
Duration of work
Identification of potential health hazards/exposures
The RPP Administrator will determine appropriate type(s) of respiratory protection based on information provided on the Respirator Request Form. The form is available at the Occupational Health Clinics, the Respiratory Protection Program offices and online.
