Lesson 2: Work Plan and Budget

Lesson Overview

As a project officer, you are in a unique position to help grantees use their funding wisely to achieve their goals. To effectively manage cooperative agreements, you must collaborate closely with your Grants Management Officer (GMO) and Grants Management Specialist (GMS). Together, you should focus on your respective areas of expertise to ensure that the activities, budget, and any programmatic changes are appropriate to accomplish the goals and objectives of the work plan and are allowable based on grant policies.

With the grantee, you share in responsibility for:

  • Appropriate use of funds awarded.
  • Performance of the cooperative agreement.
  • Activities specified in the approved work plan.

In this lesson, you will learn about types of costs associated with a project or program and sources of grantee funding.
