BDI Score: TBD
BDI Question 9: TBD

Sonia: So all I have to do is take a test? What if I don't know the answer or am uncomfortable with the questions?

Vivian: The questions are straightforward and easy. Even if you don't know an exact answer, it is okay to go with how you feel. How you feel is what I am most concerned with anyway. Try not to simply guess, Discourage guessing.Image of Vivian. just listen to your feelings. All you have to do is fill out the questionnaire every few weeks during your interferon treatment. It doesn't take long. Explain what the patient is to do.

Sonia: Okay, but I don't want a lot of people to be able to tell whether or not I'm depressed. This is a personal thing, and I don't like that my emotions might be filed somewhere for anyone to see.

Vivian: The BDI is private. Only you and staff here at the clinic will see it, unless there is a medical emergency. Provide privacy. Is there anything else you would like to ask? Allow the patient to ask questions.

Sonia: Not right now, but I may have more once I see the test.

Vivian: That's fine. Try not to think of the BDI as a test, it is really only a questionnaire-a routine part of your medical evaluation. I appreciate that you asked lots of questions, it shows that you are concerned, which is great. Relax and try to be as honest as you can. Thank you, Sonia.
