Week 2 of Interferon Therapy
BDI Score: 15
BDI Question 9: 0

Great! You just saw several examples of ways to discuss antidepressant medication with your patients. Here's a question that will help you explore several different ways of incorporating the skill elements.

Which of the following statements incorporate all of the skill elements?

A) The reason we are using this medication is to protect you from getting depressed while taking the medication. In order for the medicine to work, you will need to take it regularly. It should start working right away. If you have any side effects, stop taking the medication immediately.

B) This medication will help us manage depression while you are being treated for hepatitis C. While it may take some time before your symptoms get better, if you take it regularly, it should help. If you have some side effects, try to be patient. They should get better. If you find the side effects bothersome, don't stop taking the medication. Call us and we can make adjustments.

C) You need to take this medicine every morning. If you do, then after a while you should notice your mood getting better. If you find that the medicine bothers you, call the office. Sometimes these side effects get better as your body gets used to the medicine. Another option is for us to change the medicine. Don't stop taking the pills unless you have called the office. This medicine should help you get through the hepatitis treatment. Once it is over, you will gradually stop taking the pills.

D) both B and C
