•  Obtain the patient's psychiatric history and administer the BDI before beginning antiviral therapy.

•  Practice incorporating interviewing skill elements with your patients.

•  Administer the BDI routinely, at least during weeks 4, 8, and 12.

•  Discuss BDI results with your patient.
